Title: Health Care for AH: Determining whether the Philippines can attain a Health System akin to Cuba
Authors: Coronel, Charlette M.
Issue Date: Mar-2011
Abstract: Health is a human right and as a right, it is therefore the responsibility of the state to protect and promote the health of its citizens. The Cuban government, with its socialist healthcare system, has been able to uphold this responsibility, while the Philippines still lags behind. Cuba’s successes in its healthcare system despite some economic constraints is remarkable, thus, it could serve as model for other developing countries such as the Philippines. This study takes a deeper look into the healthcare systems of Cuba and the Philippines, and furthermore, it shall determine whether the Philippines can attain a healthcare system akin to Cuba.
