dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study was to determine the social and cultural factors of dog cruelty. A purposive survey was conducted among the residents of Barangay Gumaok East, West and Central in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Questionnaires were used to collect information. The data were gathered through the administration of questionnaires to the participants. The results of this study revealed that social influence, gaining of approval from peers, protection of the safety of family, property and conununity, social power, utilitarian views, humanistic views, prejudice, views on animal cruelty and age were the social and cultural factors related to dog cruelty. Ways to help people control themselves from committing cruel acts against animals were recommended. More researches are needed in this area.en_US
