Title: An Assessment of the LGU-run Centers for Street Children In Davao City, Davao del Sur
Authors: Luta, Vikki Antoniette G.
Issue Date: Feb-2006
Abstract: This thesis is mainly an assessment of the local-government run centers for Street Children in the city of Davao. The thesis examines two centers, under the custody of the City Social Services Development Office (CSSDO), that cater to street children from inside and outside Davao City. This research seeks to find out if the programs and services of the centers are properly implemented and if the facilities are enough. With a framework of historical materialism, the background and profile of the children are also examined to determine the current state of the street children in Davao City. Through the answers and opinions of the staffs of two centers as well as the children's (under the care of the centers) point of view, the researcher was able to prove that the programs and services were not properly executed and implemented and there were many facilities and other needs that could not be addressed. The main reason for this deficiency was determined to be insufficient budget.
