Abstract: | This paper entitled The Socio-economic Impact of RO-RO Shipping in the Municipality of Roxas Oriental Mindoro is a descriptive study about the RO-RO Shipping operation in the municipality's Dangay port. It is an assessment on how the introduction of RO-RO Shipping operation affects the socio-economic condition of the town, specifically for the residents and community near the port area. Firstly, this study looks into the condition of RO-RO Shipping in the town. Secondly, it discusses the advantages and disadvantages of RO-RO Shipping as viewed by the residents and community near the port area. Finally, it tackles the passengers' perception regarding the RO-RO Shipping operation. This study uses qualitative and quantitative data gathering techniques through informal interviews, surveys and collection of official records. Likewise, it employs a qualitative and quantitative approaches in data analysis. The main participants of this study are the residents and community near the port area and the patrons of RO-RO Shipping. The researcher5s role in this study is to evaluate the present condition of RO-RO Shipping in the town of Roxas as well as to understand the condition of the residents and community near the port area and to give recommendations for the improvement of the RO-RO Shipping operation based on the data gathered during the course of the study. |
