dc.description.abstract | The life of a teacher is no easy task. With each day that passes by, a teacher would try to offer her best and optimal pedagogy, in the name of giving quality education and service to the students, and to the university as a whole. But the teachers will not merely rely on their eagerness to teach, in order to live and survive. Yes, this is a part of a teacher's life. But being a teacher is also a "job," where good working conditions and high remuneration is also a way of motivating them to perform efficiently in their profession. This study will present the UP Manila full-time College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Faculty's enthusiasm in staying at the university, given their present salary and benefits. It will tackle how they cope with their teaching and working conditions given that UP is offering only meager salary and lesser benefits, as compared to other premier universities. Furthermore, it will discuss the factors that motivates the faculty members to stay or the aspects inimical to their enthusiasm in staying at UP. The first chapter will comprise the research questions, thesis statement and objectives set by this study. It will also review the literature pertinent to the research topic, show how data will be presented and the limitations of the study. Chapter two will furnish the historical background and role of UP, and in particular, the role and mission of the CAS of UP Manila. Data regarding the faculty's perception on various issues and/or problems would embody the third chapter. In this part, the researcher would tackle the faculty's perception on the ideal role of the university and norms of academic excellence. Furthermore, it would look upon their outlook regarding the university facilities, salary, benefits, overloading and organizational conflicts. It will show the Victors that keep them to stay or factors that hinder their enthusiasm in staying at the university. In this part, a survey method was used and in-depth interviews were conducted. Meanwhile, chapter four is the summary and analysis of the findings of the preceding chapter. The last chapter, on the other hand, will give recommendations tor future studies. | en_US |
