Issue Date: Mar-2012
Abstract: A Labor union is an organization or association of employees that exists for collective bargaining with the employer. It is important for workers to know and protect their rights and welfare. Through this, they can request for additional wages and benefits towards the interest of the working class. Labor unionism is seen by the capitalists as a hindrance to their interest, which is to gain profits. In addition to this, in the face of globalization, the government pushes neoliberal policies, which are mostly against the interest of the working class. This study aims to check on the current situation of SM employees. It also intends to determine and analyze the problems in labor organizing inside SM and provide solutions to effectively organize the SM employees and educate them about their rights.
