Online Rheumatoid Arthritis Monitoring System (ORAMS)

Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis is one of the diseases that tend to be systemic in nature so a system that can track the condition of the patient based on his disease activity level is necessary for an effective clinical monitoring of the rheumatoid arthritis patient. Online Rheumatoid Arthritis Monitoring System (ORAMS) is a web-based application that aims to monitor the disease activity level of rheumatoid arthritis patients and to centralize the information repository of the rheumatoid arthritis patients for the Rheumatology Section. The system has five users namely: the rheumatologist, rheumatology fellow, rheumatology department secretary, laboratory assistant, and system administrator. ORAMS allows the calculation of the disease activity level of the patient by means of the joint evaluation function that is present in the system. The system would also help in the process of evaluating the treatment of the patient. The application will also alert patients who are scheduled for an appointment through SMS (short message service) in the next few days. The system would also help in making the organization and consolidation of summary reports faster and easier. ORAMS does not only function as an electronic medical record but also a decision support system by means of the different disease activity calculator.
