| Abstract: | The issue of gender discrimination and bias, particularly of women, had been put to the light. During the past years, there had been major objections regarding the way women were treated unfairly in the different areas such as in their homes, schools and workplaces. With it came the clamor of concerned sectors to put an end to this situation. Contained in this paper are the conditions of women as they evolved throughout a long span of time. There had been major changes that happened and many factors that contributed to both the progress and regress of women. The government has done its part in promulgating laws that seek to remove gender inequality and promote the full participation of women in all activities of society. This kind of authority had been passed on to the local government units. This research probes on the effectivity of Quezon City in complying with these laws. The methods employed by this study are library and document research. Interviews were also set with the city's officials regarding their perception in the promotion of women development. A survey was conducted to know how effective Quezon City is with the implementation of their laws concerning women development. With these, data was gathered and proved that, indeed, Quezon City has a high level of gender sensitivity. It is seen through the creation of ordinances and resolutions that greatly benefited women and cares for their well-being. |
