dc.description.abstract | The culture has been an aspect of society that is embedded in the economy, politics, philosophy, literature, arts, and morality. Theatre, as part of the arts, has a role in the development of a society through its processes and performances. Theatre and development is a relationship that shows the use of the arts as a strategy in developing a community. This can specifically be seen in the theatrical form of Alternative Community Theaters. This type of theatre is informative and empowers people. It educates, organizes, and involves the audience within the conflict of the play, which is a reflection of real conflict and contradictions present in the Philippine society, a theatre that challenges the status quo present in a society. The relevance of this study is to show the relationship of Alternative Theater in advocating change for the society and the people. The research study aims to show the relevance of alternative theatre and its impact on the audiences. It also examines Teatro Ekyumenikal’s processes and its impacts on its members. Through the use of various research methodologies, this study further aims to show the interrelations of alternative theater with the social awareness building of the community towards development. | en_US |
