Abstract:
The aim of this research is to identify the importance of the abortion debate in the development of the Philippines and other gender issues that are related to abortion. This aims to look at different views on abortion and formulate recommendations on what to do. Using survey research, case studies, and key informant interviews with the aid of structural functionalism, social conflict, feminism, phenomenological approach, and intersectionality, the researcher was able to push forward and examine the abortion debate and the reality of abortion in the Philippines and its connections on gender issues. The researcher hopes that this effort becomes contributory to the fight of women in achieving empowerment, not just in the case of reproductive rights.
