A macrofungi survey was conducted in San Carlos Hill, Binangonan, Rizal on October 19 and 26, 2010. Both of the scheduled visits were done after a rain. From the two observations, the survey accounted a total of 52 specimens, 43 of which were classified into 16 unique genera and nine were unidentified. The most common genera found in the survey were Schizophyllum (10 specimens), Marasmiellus (nine specimens), and Auricularia (seven specimens). Other basidiomycetes observed were Trametes sp., Dacryopinax spathularia, and Exidia sp. Daldinia concentrica, an ascomycete, was also found. Diversity can be observed in the macrofungi of San Carlos Hill considering the number of genera found in the survey. More specimens were found in non-residential areas with more dense plant canopies. Temperature, light intensity, relative humidity, and disturbance affect the distribution of the macrofungi. A taxonomic key to the macrofungi of San Carlos Hill was also developed based on their morphological characteristics. It is recommended to extend the scope of the study to cover the whole rainy season and to include more forests areas. |
