In the Philippines, much of the human resource management researches concentrate on the private sector thus having a lack of information for those that work in the public. Herzberg's Two Factor Theory was the framework used for the basis of the instrument and the analysis of the results. The Department of Education, Central office was the primary source institution of the study. All of the the ninety respondents5 came from this government agency. The researches objectives centered on describing the organization profile of the agency and then merely present the factors affecting retention motivation of the employees of DepEd in hope that it may provide initial data for future research. The socio-demographic profiles of the respondents were also established to present interesting relations between this and the retention motivation factors. A quantitative research design was used with a survey questionnaire as the main instrument. The top and bottom retention motivating factors were tabulated and analyzed and has yielded the following results: Work Itself Interpersonal Relationships and Achievement are the factors that affect the employee's motivation to stay in the agency while Possibility of Growth, Job Security and Advancement are lhe factors that least motivate them to stay in the agency. en_US
