Abstract:
The Integrated Surgical Information System Injury Data Analyzer is a
database and data analysis system. This system follows some data warehousing
approach where it gets its data from an external database. It makes use of natural
language processing in order to mine data from fields which have entries in narrative
and non-standard form. It utilizes a look-up identifier table where parsed texts are
matched against keywords which contain entries in a standard form. Matching of
keywords is implemented through the use of full-text search in mySQL. Extracted
data are then ''cleansed" and changed into a standard format. ISIS-IDA also includes
query interfaces and analysis visualization tools for informative and research
purposes. It allows the users to choose different data or combination of data they
wish to view. Reports on distribution of injury by demography and frequency of
injury cases are generated through the query interface. These reports can be
represented by graphs or tables. Registered users which are composed of doctors are
allowed to upload and post articles and bulletins which may be of contribution to the
awareness in injury.
