dc.description.abstract The Internet has seen a wide variety of technological advancements over the years starting from its roots as the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) up to its present day usage by a large number of users. It has become a valuable medium and source of information for everyone and an arena where its users can express themselves freely within its virtual expanse (cyberspace). The growth of the technology however ushered in the prevalence of a new type of crime termed as "cybercrimes," where such crimes involves the usage of the Internet and other devices which are considered as Internet-related technologies in order to conduct such crimes. These crimes has a lot of varieties wherein, even the traditional crimes, or crimes which originally doesn't make use of such technologies (e.g. human trafficking), would now use such in order to proliferate itself at a faster pace and at a wider reach. Apart from these, there are also cybercrimes which have been created through the computer related technologies available which includes hacking, spreading of viruses, phishing, spamming, and etc. en_US
