Education presently is characterized to be colonial, commercialized and repressive. It is also discriminatory and exclusivist to people who can afford to pay for high tuition. This undergraduate thesis aims to know how the Philippine education system is affected by the increase in tuition and other fees and how the tuition policy works for the advancement of students’ interests and basic rights. The researcher used archival research, survey and interview to be able to obtain the facts and relevant information needed. The materials obtained will be used in analyzing the data gathered. The researcher then came up with the conclusion that government policies on education sector proved to be harmful and exacerbate the education crisis in our country hence the need for an education that will serve the interest of the masses - a service-oriented one. The researcher made a recommendation on intensifying awareness campaign in the universities to make the students abreast and to be able to act and respond to issues at hand.en_US
