dc.description.abstract | As we strive to achieve food security, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) have proliferated to support production of food but propagation of GMOs has presented many challenges in terms of its effect on agriculture, culture, socioeconomic, and health. With that, the Biosafety Policy and Guidelines has been adapted to ensure that GM products are taken care of for people's safety. This paper aims to identify issues regarding biosafety policy and guidelines for genetic engineering of crops or organisms, as well as analyze the actions taken by the Philippine government in response to the negative effects of genetically modified crops on farmers, by demonstrating the current state of genetically modified crop agricultural cultivation and the food sector. This research will also look at specific biosafety legislation, initiatives, and activities to see if they have improved or worsened the farmers' situation. | en_US |
