Title: The Study of the Effect of the Philippine Economic Crisis on the Socio-Economic Profile of Jeepney Drivers and Operators in Fairview and Lagro Area
Authors: Trinidad, Rondelle V.
Issue Date: 2004
Abstract: Our country's economy has been in peril for years and is becoming worse. The downfall of Philippine economy and the rise in prices of all commodities has greatly affected the socio-economic profile of the Filipinos especially the working class. And after one administration then the next, the government has not done anything to alleviate the country's devastating conditions. Jeepney drivers, being a constituent of the working class, directly experience the worsening condition of our country's economic status through drastic increase of prices. With the drop of the Philippines economy comes the rise in their expenditures, including gasoline, food, water, electricity and their children's education. The drivers derive their income mainly from payments of public commuters, and with the rise of our daily expenditures, commuters find ways to save and earn money.
