Abstract: The Overseas Filipino Workers have been an important part of the Filipino society for several decades now. Although, Philippine outmigration is not a recent phenomenon, the situation became pervasive during the last 20 years. Within this period, they have managed to support the weakening economic situation of our country. Thus, their value in our society is clearly recognized and appreciated. OFWs are not only esteemed by their families but also by the whole Filipino people. Their title “Bagong Bayani ng Pilipinas” is definitely most appropriate. However, the fact remains that despite being valuable assets of the nation, Filipino migrant workers are still suffering from various kinds of abuses inside and outside the country. Their rights are continually being unrecognized and violated. In addition, the State is not capable of securing protection for the OFWs alone. The non-governmental organizations in migration, as the alternative provider of assistance to the OFWs, and the primary advocates of their welfare, play an important role in the migration phenomenon. NGO sector now becomes a very important element of the Philippine migrant institution and this contribution must be recognized. It is in this light that this study commenced.
