A Study of the Street Children Program of Kanlungan sa Ermita, Manila

Abstract

The researcher, from the observations and interviews, has seen all the services that the kids are benefiting from the institution and has heard views from all the groups concerned in the study: the kids, the staffs, and the administrator. After a month of conducting the study, the researcher has proved her hypothesis to be true. The programs and services offered by Kanlungan sa Ermita Manila to the children whom they cater are effective. The institution is able to respond to the developmental needs of its clients, which includes physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs. Its programs and services are complete in character. It has provided services in an incorporated fashion that allows continuity of care. The mission, that is to serve, to protect, and to develop children and families-in-need was met. They were able to create interest to develop kids’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. The institution has shaped the kids into more disciplined and responsible individuals. The way they discipline the kids, the education that they offer, and the proper guidance from all the staffs have built the confidence of the kids as manifested by the kids’ easy and comfortable interaction with visitors and outsiders.
