Breaking the Silence of the Concrete Jungle: Everyday Resistance of urban poor communities in Pandacan, Manila

Abstract

This is a study about Everyday Resistance, as stipulated by James C. Scott, and how it is espoused, manifested, and performed within the frames of the Philippine urban poor. Premium is placed on the accounts, perspectives, and experiences of the community as investigating Urban Infrapolitics requires an intimate understanding of the daily lives of slum dwellers. Using oral history, key-informant interview, ethnography, case study, participant-observation, storytelling, and focus group discussions as methods, the data gathering process would be able to collect relevant information straight from the community members.
