A critical assessment of the factors contributing to the deterioration of the Philippine health system.

Abstract

This endeavor was a fruition of an attempt to provide an in depth analysis of the Philippine health system. Health service provision is one of the main components that gravely affects the performance and status of Filipino citizens, making it a very crucial issue. It also serves as a barometer for the position the society is currently at and therefore would be a topic worth tackling and informing other people about. As much as it is significant, it also proves to be a vast and comprehensive subject making it more of a challenge to take up. In order to provide adequate understanding of the health system it has been dissected in a manner that would present its most vital components. Every component mentioned thereof would contain an overview of its function, its impact to the system, and the issues embedded within it. In addition historical data have also been gathered and presented to provide a clearer view of how things came about in the health care delivery system. It also provides a good angle of analysis that could help in coming up with prescriptions to enhance the current status of the Philippine health care system. To measure its efficacy government health projects in various health aspects such as nutrition, maternal and child health care, drug regulation, and the like have been named and assessed. Interviews were conducted from health experts coming from both side of the spectrum in order to present a balanced narration of the strengths and weaknesses of the system. In the end, the paper aims to: a) present a clear picture of the alarming health system status in the country, b) provide the major causes of this dilemma, c) be able to provide a cohesive discussion of the elements that come into play with regard to the health system, and d) development, and the neglect of it will surely have grave consequences.
