This paper aims to probe deeper into the effects of privatization on government hospitals especially on its indigent patients and health workers. This paper is divided into nine parts. The first part is the introduction which shows the presentation of the statement of objectives, review of related literature, research methodology as well as the significance of the study. The second part discusses the trends in the privatization of health services. Commercialization and privatization is discussed in the third part. The privatization background and rationale and the reasons for privatizing government hospitals are discussed in Chapters 5 and 6. The impact of privatization on government hospitals and its effects on health workers and indigent patients is discussed in Chapter 7. Chapter 8 shows the struggle against privatization. The final part is the conclusion. The researcher was able to conclude that the privatization of government hospitals brings more death and disease instead of what it promised to be as "health in the hands of the people." Privatization of government hospitals breed ill health and the health workers and the patients - especially the poor and the peasants - are always at the losing end.en_US
