Abstract: Fruit substances derived from Tamarindus indica, Carica papaya, and Averrhoa bilimbi were tested for inhibitory effects on the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, both of these bacteria cause skin infections. Positive results were obtained from Tamarindus indica, against both types of bacteria; and Averrhoa bilimbi, against Ps. Aeruginosa. The Agar Disc Diffusion Method was used to test the susceptibility of the bacteria to the fruit substances. The incubation period of bacterial cultures was 24 hrs, under the temperature of 37 degrees centigrade.
