Abstract: | Music, like any other forms of art, can contribute to the society. Music is more that just calming the soul. Music is a tool that can contribute to the further development of a nation - through the use of art, music to be specific, development is possible. This study specifically focuses on progressive music. This type of music is inspiring, socially relevant yet disturbing. Inspiring in a sense that it empowers listener, socially relevant in a sense that it contribute to social discourse and lastly disturbing in a sense that progressive songs are reflection of reality that is wounded and rotten. The goal of this study is to show the contribution of progressive songs to social discourse and its impact to social awareness in the pursuit of a harmonious society. |
