<title>The Social Weather Stations Surveys: An Assessment of Its Effects on the Filipino Voting Public in the Light of Philippine Electoral Politics</title>

<description>The Social Weather Stations Surveys: An Assessment of Its Effects on the Filipino Voting Public in the Light of Philippine Electoral Politics
Asuncion, Jericho J.
The Filipino voting public is intelligent, critical and inquisitive - or so they say. In a&#13;
world and age where media plays a major role in people's lives, politics not an exception, it&#13;
is difficult to gauge the intensity of its effects on the Filipino voting public.&#13;
As an entity or vehicle through which something is conveyed, media has the power to&#13;
transmit any message to the public. It can move the mind to think. It also has the ability to&#13;
stir emotions. Media can rouse people to action. In politics alone, you cannot imagine the&#13;
possible implications media can bring about.&#13;
In the national political scene, one institution claims to hear and publicize the voice of&#13;
the people. No, it's not one of those traditional politicians or trapos in the local lingo. It is the&#13;
Social Weather Stations (SWS), which as the election period draws near produce electoral&#13;
surveys which may or may not reflect the Filipino voting public's sentiments.&#13;
During election time, the country turns into one big circus. Politicians aspiring for&#13;
power are like wild animals out of their cages, craving for public attention. In our country, as&#13;
in many other countries in the world, political campaigns arc treated as horse races, political&#13;
candidates are treated as personalities, and issues are given short attention.&#13;
The Social Weather Stations surveys are here for reference. Whether it could raise&#13;
political awareness, form public opinion, affect political behavior or none of the&#13;
aforementioned, this research seeks to assess the plight of public polling in the Philippines&#13;
and look into its possible effects on Filipino voting public.&#13;
This study focused on the Social Weather Stations Surveys to assess the possible&#13;
effects of electoral surveys on the Filipino voting public during elections. The author sought to analyze public opinion polling in the Philippines in the light of Philippine electoral politics&#13;
and the role of media in politics. Ultimately, the goal of the writer to prove or disprove the&#13;
possibility of surveys directly affecting the Filipino voting public's political awareness,&#13;
behavior and opinion.

<title>The Effect of the Integration of the Philippine Bar on the Effective Functioning of its Members</title>

<description>The Effect of the Integration of the Philippine Bar on the Effective Functioning of its Members
Asis, Marie Dawn E.
The integration of the Philippine Bar was initiated basically to serve&#13;
the purpose of uniting the lawyers and elevate the standards of the legal&#13;
profession.&#13;
This study aims to look into the origin, purpose and function of the&#13;
Integrated Bar of the Philippines. It also seeks to answer questions&#13;
regarding the inevitable effect of the integration on the performance of its&#13;
members.&#13;
The IBP is offering services not only for ordinary people but also for&#13;
its members. But its significance as an organization of lawyers is still in&#13;
question.&#13;
Result would show that the uncooperativeness of some of the&#13;
members of the organization is a result of poor leadership. The officers of&#13;
the IBP neglects its duties to its members and wasn't able to project its&#13;
significance.

<title>Reproductive Rights and the Crisis of Overpopulation: The Case of the City of Manila</title>
<link>http://dspace.cas.upm.edu.ph:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/3768</link>
<description>Reproductive Rights and the Crisis of Overpopulation: The Case of the City of Manila
Ambe, Gerard M.
The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the policy of the&#13;
local government of Manila in solving the crisis of overpopulation in the city. The&#13;
research discussed the significance of reproductive health as rights in solving the problem&#13;
of overpopulation. However, as the result of the study, it showed that the local&#13;
government has no policy at all in solving the problem of overpopulation. The mayor of&#13;
the City, as an advocate of Prolife policy believed that there is no problem with the&#13;
population. For him, the more population the city has, the better the industry and&#13;
economy because he believed that these people would contribute to labor productivity.&#13;
This research had come up with effective and significant solutions to solve the problem&#13;
of overpopulation. Unlike, the belief of the city officials the researcher believed that there&#13;
is a problem in overpopulation. The researcher showed that overpopulation can link to&#13;
more problems such as scarcity in housing, unemployment and insufficient education for&#13;
children.&#13;
This research used first and secondhand information in gathering data to&#13;
complete the study. The researcher also tried to use the survey method in acquiring&#13;
information from residents of the city of Manila. However, the results of the survey are&#13;
not reliable since out of 50 questionnaires only 14 respondents answered the survey.&#13;
From all the information and data acquired from print out documents and&#13;
interviews, the, researcher proved that there is no efficient policy regarding&#13;
overpopulation in the city of Manila. Moreover, reproductive health as rights of every&#13;
individual has not been properly implemented.
