Abstract:
This study deals with protective factors as well as associated risk factors of selfharm
behavior among University students, with the end-goal of determining appropriate
intervention program for those at risk. Concurrent research design was used, and survey
questionnaire was administered to 205 college students—18 years old and above. Survey
data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. An interview questionnaire
for experts was developed based on the same sources as the surveys, and were
administered to psychologists, guidance counselors, psychiatrists and those in the mental
health profession for their expert opinion and suggestions on how to develop appropriate
intervention program if needed. Results of the study can aid the mental health and
psychosocial program of the University as evidenced-based intervention program could
be developed to address this growing concern.
