Abstract:
With the rise of Millennials in the corporate world, increasing attention should be
given to understanding the distinct characteristics of this new generation of managers.
This study entitled, A Descriptive Study on the Impact of Psychological Birth Order
on the Leadership Style of Filipino Millennial Managers explored the association of
Psychological Birth order and Leadership Style of Filipino managers working in
Metro Manila. This study is intended to feed into the body of knowledge in Human
Resource Management in the Philippines particularly in designing or formulating
leadership development programs and training needs analysis for managers geared
towards promoting innovative strategies in managing both people and their work.
This descriptive study made use of Survey Questionnaire comprising three (3)
parts namely, Respondent Profile, Psychological Birth Order Inventory and Blake-
Mouton Managerial Grid. Three hundred eighty-five (385) millennial managers were
selected through non purposive sampling. Results showed that majority of the Filipino
Millennial managers today belong to the Fourth Born Birth Order Category and are
practicing a Team Leader style of leadership. Results from the Pearson Chi-Square
correlation however, showed that there is not enough evidence to support the
association between Psychological Birth Order and Leadership Style.
