The study describes how University of the Philippines Manila College of Arts and Sciences administration offices communicate with its students. Using a sequential mixed-method evaluative research design, three representatives from different administration offices are interviewed to illustrate how their respective offices communicate to its constituents and a sample of two hundred and sixty students are surveyed to examine the extend and effectiveness of their communication efforts. The administrative offices are identified to communicative several types of messages related to the functions of the offices that serve the student population. They communicate these through several means of communication that range from personal contact to posted memos in their bulletin boards. The messages reach up to 84.2% of the sampled student population. Of the sample population, 438% experienced a variety of problems receiving messages from the administration offices. The students received these messages through bulletin boards, social media, and official CAS UPM Websites. These same mediums are rated as most accessible by the sample population as well but they would prefer to receive messages through social media, bulletin boards, and sms. |
