dc.description.abstract Gays are people who usually experience discrimination and condemnation in society; they are treated unequally compared to “straight” people. They usually experience inequality in the work place, homes and in schools. Thus, they are deprived of the opportunity to improve their own selves to show what they can really do to contribute to the society. Based on the online surveys, there are two main reasons why discrimination is prevalent in Philippine society. The first, is because of the religious reasons and second, because of the social reasons. The first is condemnation of religion or the church to gays based on the interpretation of the sacred text. The second is about the rules that society enforces. These rules are accepted as norms and that every person should conform or else he/she will be punished. And because gays do not follow these rules, they are being discriminated as a form of punishment because they choose to be deviants. Fortunately, gay organizations are now pursuing organizing, educating, advancing gay rights through the passage of the Anti-Discrimination Bill to prevent or at least prevent the discrimination experience by these people.Although actions are being done and interests are being advanced, the liberation movement for the gays has a long way to go; the problem of discrimination is deeply rooted in our society. en_US
