With communication openness and humor both deemed as vital constructs in an organization,
it is important to explore how these two are related, and how both can be used to implement
the best approach that enables people to work and improve their well-being. Various studies
have explored how both communication openness and humor affect an organization. However,
there is a lack of data when it comes to the relationship of the two. Thus, this research explored
the relationship between Communication Openness and Humor Climate among the new
employees in the work-from-home setup among the new employees of BPO Companies.
Through the correlational research design, data were collected using the Communication
Openness Measure and Humor Climate Scale. A total of 385 BPO employees answered the
online survey. Results showed that among all four Humor Climate Dimensions, Positive Humor
and Outgroup Humor were significantly, positively correlated to Communication Openness,
while Negative Humor is significantly, negatively correlated to communication openness.
Through maximizing the use of these findings, both constructs can be utilized to play a role in
fostering a positive working environment, social cohesion, and effective collaborative decisions
in organizations. |
