Abstract:
This study is about the knowledge, attitude, and behavior of teenage mothers regarding the
prenatal services of the barangay health center. It sought to describe the prenatal services
provided by the Wenceslao dela Paz Sentrong Sigla Health Center in Barangay Culiat, Quezon
City for the development of the maternal health of teenage mothers in the area; to describe the
milieu wherein the Wenceslao dela Paz Sentrong Sigla Health Center provides prenatal services
for the teenage mothers of Barangay Culiat; and to determine if the prenatal services offered by
the Wenceslao dela Paz Sentrong Sigla Health Center in Barangay Culiat are satisfactory to the
teenage mothers who were clients on January 2008. The researcher hypothesized that the
prenatal services of the barangay health center are perceived to be satisfactory in addressing the
prenatal needs of the teenage mothers. The researcher identified twenty-five teenage mothers
who availed of the prenatal services of the Wenceslao dela Paz Sentrong Sigla Health Center in
January 2008, and the researcher interviewed each one using a questionnaire which addressed
all aspects of prenatal services and of the health center. The barangay health center is generally
satisfactory based on the results of the responses of the respondents. However, there were
certain aspects which the respondents perceived as unsatisfactory, such as the sufficiency of the
center in treating complications. Thus, the researcher recommends that these aspects be given
immediate solution to be able to maintain the good quality and representation of the center and
more importantly, to develop the health of the community through the efficient and satisfactory
services.
