| dc.description.abstract | This study examined if student leaders and non-leaders differed in global self-esteem and its contingencies (sources). The results showed that there is no difference between the student leaders and the non-leaders. However there is a difference between males and females with males having higher self-esteem (p<.05, 2-tailed). There is a small difference between the rankings of the sources of self-esteem when compared across groups. God's love and family ranked either first and second. depending on gender and leadership status, while other's approval and appearance ranked last. Although, the variables (gender and leadership status) did not predict the source of self-esteem, it did identify which domains do not contribute to a person's self-esteem. These are appearance, other's approval and academics. | en_US |
