dc.description.abstract Student activism is a concept which is considered to be a part of the culture in the University of the Philippines. UP Manila, given its location, is near several points of interest regarding places where social movement activities are held. Due to this fact, there is a need to explore the context in which UP Manila students participate in student activism. This study employs the usage of the Grounded theory design in conducting the study. The respondents are limited to the 3rd year and 4th year students from the courses in the College of Arts and Sciences. Data is collected through the use of semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using open and axial coding in order to determine the core themes. The study concluded that students of UP Manila view student activism in a positive light and that different factors affect their decision to participate. en_US
