dc.description.abstract The Philippines is a small country composed of small islands. And with the fast growing population, we are faced with the problem of insufficient supply of land. In Cavite City, for instance, land area is very limited with bodies of water surrounding it making it a peninsula. The city government together with private individuals make use of land reclamation projects to solve this problem. Land reclamations are conducted to make use of inaccessible or idle parts of land. In the Philippines, most of the time it is a part of the sea which is reclaimed and to be used as a place to build subdivisions, new industrial sites, a construction site for a high way like the Coastal Road, and like in the case of Ciudad Nuevo Reclamation Project, for instance, as a place to construct the new public market. The study on the effects of the Ciudad Nuevo Reclamation Project on the fishing, mussel and oyster industry in Bacoor Bay in Cavite City aims to specify the positive or good effects in comparison with the negative effects of land reclamation to the fishing industry, mussel and oyster industry. This study can give important contributions in the subject of continuing or prohibiting land reclamation projects. en_US
