dc.description.abstract The struggle, the victory and the ultimate road to national political power has been but an easy one for the Liberal Party of the Philippines. Once a minority wing under the Nacionalista Party, it has exemplified its potentials in being able to prove its independence, armed with the objective to generate a new breed of leaders for the nation. Several conflicts, not only amongst themselves and other parties but also between the very members of the organization, have occurred over time, yet time and time again unity has been established at every step of the way. Struggles in overcoming disagreements, fighting for what they believe is right, instigating a force in the local and international liberal community—the Liberal Party has been and is still heading towards these aims and more. In the political and economic setting, the majority of the population has learned to cast their doubts upon the government, without the exemption to some of the members of this party. This case study presents and extensive look into the system of the dominant political party in the country, accompanied by the complex intrinsic and extrinsic factors, and how the characterization of elite politics has managed to both cause and produce the guise of aristocratic rule under the cloak of what we call ‘democracy’ today. en_US
