This study investigates the impact of the development of Bonifacio Global City on the surrounding
EMBO barangays, with a particular focus on the socioeconomic implications for the existing
residents. Using a phenomenological qualitative research approach, data were gathered through
field observations and face-to-face interviews with residents. The researcher employed thematic
analysis to systematically identify, classify, and highlight recurring themes or patterns within the
participant’s responses. Findings reveal significant population growth in EMBO barangays, mainly
due to increased economic opportunities and infrastructural developments in Bonifacio Global
City. However, results also show that this growth has brought numerous challenges for the existing
residents of EMBO, including cultural shifts, worsened traffic conditions, threats of displacement,
flooding, and noise pollution. Through this study, the researcher aims to ensure that the residents’
untold realities and challenges are documented and brought to the forefront as a pressing concern
of inefficient urban planning. |
