Abstract:
The Philippine General Hospital is the most prominent hospital in the
Philippines. Its aim is to promote a high quality of life by extending its medical
services to a greater number of people.
The Internet has long been the bastion of new ideas that promote the
availability of various information. Several institutions have acquired online presence
in order to reach out of a wider audience. One of the ways of presenting information
is by creating 3D worlds that would enable the visitors to be immersed in a virtual
environment and at the same time, they can access data by interacting with the
objects inside the virtual world.
Thus, by applying the concept of the Internet and the VRML technology, the
goal of the PGH may be achieved.
The Online Virtual Philippine General Hospital aims to present information
related to the Philippine General Hospital in an innovative manner. There would be
A 3D hospital simulating the structural aspects of the PGH, capable of sheltering the
major information about the said hospital and its departments.
This information consists of the medical staff for each department, medical
exams, job opportunities, advertisements and others that are of interest to the web
visitors.
The Virtual PGH will be created by the use of the 3D authoring tool TrueSpace
4 and the VRML browser recommended for this study is Blaxxun Contact 4.3.
