Cooperatives are present to be of help to a group of people who are of the same line
of work or interest. They were developed to be of aid to these people because the
government, or the company that they are working for is not able to provide all the
necessary assistance to them. It is funded by its members for it to be able to mobilize with
the projects that would benefit the organization and its members as well.
Market cooperatives are usually credit cooperatives that give financial loans to its
members. These loans may vary from health loans to educational loans, depending on the
decision of the cooperative founders. But the main reason for the existence of credit
cooperatives is to provide capital loans for its members. They are also there to promote
thrift and to encourage their members to save.
The CMVDA is one of the smallest cooperatives in Malabon, as the Concepcion
market is its smallest public market. It was founded out of a need to generate funds in
order to give proper and adequate services to the market’s vendors and buyers.
Through a study made by the researcher, it has been shown that the CMVDA is
effective in providing financial assistance to its members. A huge percentage of the
members who answered the survey say that the CMVDA fulfills its duties to them by
providing them not only with financial assistance, but also by providing the market with
the utilities that the market needs.
Still, there are members who seem to lack the necessary information about their
cooperative. One observation is that the members have different replies when asked if
they paid membership dues, some said that they do, while some say otherwise. While
they are not imposed to pay such fees, some members mistake the rent that they pay for
these.
Although there are some non-members who claim that the cooperative is not of any
good to the market, they are overcame by those who say that the CMVDA is necessary
for the vendors, and the market as well. |
