Abstract:
“Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan,” a famous saying which implies that we need the young generation to uplift our country’s declining condition. The street children constitute a marginalized group in our society. They are still part of our society and surely worthy to enjoy their rights and privileges. This paper intends to show the factors associated with their street existence. The accessibility and convenience of the government-owned institutions and non-government organizations were assessed to show how the street children benefit from their programs. Support from an institution or organization is important since it will aid the street children to rebuild their dignity and develop well-rounded personality. Children are the keys of the future but they are the ones mostly deprived of basic care. Since family is the basic unit of society, it is the main contributor to the well-being of the children. If the family fails, the institution and organizations are present to respond to their needs. This study shows a comparative analysis of the programs of the government institution and non-government organizations in respond to the needs of the street children.
