Abstract:
This study entitled The Implication of Public Perception About Newspapers on
Development Communication was done to determine the relationship between public
perception about newspapers and its implications on the field of development
communication. As a separate field from mass communications, development
communication seeks to use communication to educate people and use it as a tool for
development. The study on public perception was particularly focused on the province of
Masbate, mainly because it was a rural area. The survey method was used to gather the
desired information, followed by both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the data. The
results showed that public perception about newspapers have an impact on development
communication. Aside from this, some factors were also cited that caused such kind of
perception. This study therefore suggested ways in which rural areas can benefit from
development through communication resources.
