dc.description.abstract It is estimated that 1 in 20 teens, or five percent, have moderately severe to severe major depression. However, there are several hindrances in seeking and undertaking a professional help of a psychologist. The VoiceXML Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy System was developed which allows general users to undergo therapy as well as obtain information from awareness of one self’s distorted thinking up to controlling one’s undesirable behavior. Pre-defined therapy modules are to be answered followed by an evaluation, which assesses the user’s possible reactions and behaviors. This includes a psychologist-patient interaction made possible through voice-recordings as the system is accessed through phone. For each test on the therapy modules, results are saved and are reported back to the user, and based on the user’s responses, advice is given. Also for every question asked by the user and response sent by the psychologist, record is saved and is reflected in the database. Clinical psychologists monitor the possible development of each user, and forward responses as advice to user’s question. Meanwhile, a System Administrator is able to maintain the system’s contents and responsible for the addition of psychologists’ accounts. However, the “VoiceXML Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy System” is just an automated therapy system for distorted thinking and detrimental behavior. An actual examination of psychologist is still much preferred. en_US
