dc.description.abstract The Asthmatic Children Home Monitoring System (ASCHOMS) is a web-based application that allows parent or guardian to manage his or her child’s asthma in the premises of their home. The pulmonary doctors maintain the medical records of the asthma patients and create an action or treatment plan for the asthma self-management of every patient. The patients need to monitor their symptoms and vital measurements to be aware of their current health status and to inform their respective doctors about their condition. In return, the doctor can assess the condition of the patient and create an appropriate self-treatment for the patient. If the pulmonary doctor is unavailable, a reliever doctor will temporarily handle the patients. Interaction among active valid users of the system can be done through online messaging and/or short messaging service (SMS). Different asthma related information, activities, services, and organizations are also maintained in the system to disseminate knowledge about asthma. There is also report generation on asthma prevalence according to asthma type, age group, gender, and location within Metro Manila. en_US
