Abstract:
This thesis aims to prove that OPM’s current project,
ne Registry of Filipino Artists and Their Works, is an
adequate response to the issues ©0f the Philippine Music
industry namely piracy and payola. OPM or the Organisasyon
ne Pilipinong Mang-aawit is a non-profit organization that
is composed of various artists mainly in the field of music
with common goal to protect the artist’s rights to his own
artistic creation. In the pursuit to raise the welling
of Filipino artists and their rights OPM designed a
project entitled, “The Registry of Filipino Artists and
their Works”. The project aims to protect the intellectual
property rights oi the artist.
Chapter I deals with the introduction, the statement
of the problem, the significance and objectives of the
study, and the methodology. Chapter II contains the
organization profile of OPM. It includes a brief history
OPM, Organizational Structure, VMOS, and SWOT Analysis.
Chapter III is the data gathering. It contains a discussion
of the issues in the music industry piracy and payola, a
discussion of the Intellectual property rights and the
nature of the project. And the last chapter contains the analysis and conclusion with the recommendation of the
author.
