Abstract:
The Republic Act No. 6758 or the Salary Standardization Law discusses provisions on basic compensation for all government employees and was created to Among the many recipients of the law are public elementary school teachers. The study generally aims to determine whether the Salary Standardization Laws served as the primary source of data. Secondary data from related literature and studies were also utilized to support initial notions of how the research would turn out. It also served as references for necessary review of literature. Coding was essential for context analysis. Results show that majority of the teachers are not satisfied by their current salaries (salary grade) and that the role as a public elementary school teacher is not only academic in nature. Though the salaries of Public Elementary School teachers are deemed high monetarily speaking, the struggle for higher salaries is still adamant. Because of other factors (tax, GSIS, other matters etc.) to consider, it becomes (insufficient) and that is why they want higher salaries. To make ends meet, they resort to other financial sources, specifically loans. However, their subscriptions have repercussions. Eventually, the payment for their loans will be deducted from their already small salaries. In a way, this reality enforces a negative circularity and burdens the teachers.
