Abstract: The study is a case content analysis of 607 Piney Nga! comic panels appearing from January 1989 to December 2000. These are made by the notable sociological cartoonist, Jess Abrera of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Essentially, the analysis of Pinoy Nga! is used to evaluate the operational empirical basis of F. Landa Jocano’s cultural definition of the Filipino value system. The value system is made up of “halaga” (the evaluative extrinsic component) which is manifested in objects, ideas, events and actions; “asal” (the expressive intrinsic component) reflected in “kapwa”, “damdamin” and “dangal” and; “diwa” (the spiritual psychic component) signified by its premium on “buhay”, “kalooban”. “budhi™ and “bisa”. The tabulation of the presence of these value categories is included. An overview of explanations, deductions and rationalizations of the result of the tabulated comic panels analyzed in the context to the Filipino way of lite is likewise presented. Finally, it was established that Filipinos could still foster genuine sustainable development and people empowerment once popular mediums of communication pave positive interpretations of our people's values. This affects the people’s consciousness and people in turn, as active agents of change should work collectively to attain growth as a people. Cones is substantial maternal tor serious study, prospects for further researches in this light are vast.
